Construction of the pavilion in pictures
The participants of World Expo 2010 Shanghai had the opportunity to rent a Pavilion instead of building one. Hungary, together with other 41 countries, decided to rent a Pavilion, which results in lower expenses and can of course be designed upon the participant country’s preferences.
The photo below was taken in December 2009, at this time the concrete underlay around the building was being prepared.

The National Flags on the Hungarian Pavilion
At that time only the national flag differentiated the Hungarian Pavilion from other rented pavilions, but in a few months none will be able to recognize the base Pavilion.
Inside the Pavilion
Inside the Pavilion measuring work is being done. By April Tamás Lévai’s masterpiece will welcome the visitors. Hundreds of moving, wooden boxes will be illuminated by natural sunlight in the daytime, while at night it turns into a starlit sky through the lights built in the sound boxes.

The Hungarian Pavilion in March 2010
The Hungarian Pavilion in March 2010. The transformation is significant, but the really spectacular changes will still to come. The lower parts of wall of the Pavilion – the so-called sandwich-panels – are already stripped out and replaced by glass. The Pavilion is still covered with scaffold, but the building will be soon decorated with the hanging wooden rods.
