Tickets

Tickets of Expo 2010 include nine types which are broadly classified into individual and group tickets. divided into Peak Day Admission and Standard Day Admission, 3 Day Admission, 7 Day Admission and Evening Admission. Group tickets are divided into Group Admission and Student Group Admission. Admission tickets are required for all visitors except children at or under 1.2m. 

Expo 2010 will last for 184 days from May 1 to Oct. 31, 2010. Peak Days include “Labor Day” Holiday (May 1-3, 2010), “National Day” Holiday (Oct. 1-7, 2010), and the last week before the closing date (Oct. 25-30, 2010), with 17 days in total.
Each ticket is valid for any three or seven days except Peak Days. One ticket per person, valid for one entry on the day of admission. As there is no need for registration in using the 3 Day Admission or 7 Day Admission ticket, the ticket holder is not necessarily to be the same person. 

To control visitor flow, Evening Admission tickets are only sold on-site during the Expo session. Except Evening Admission tickets, the other six types of individual tickets are available via authorized outlets.

Service for Visitors

During the Expo, services to visitors include information inquiry, visits reservation, renting, lost children information and other services to those with special needs. 

Reservation Service 

A reservation system is in place for some pavilions in the Expo site, and visitors can book at machines near the pavilion entrances. Visitors planning to tour the China Pavilion, the Theme Pavilions and other popular pavilions can make appointments in advance at the machines. There are 176 machines at 22 spots in the Expo site. Visitors can book a time to see each pavilion.

Site Shopping

Licensed products of Expo 2010 include precious metals, toys, accessories, ceramics, bags, sports equipment, lottery tickets, food and personal care products, among others. They are on sale at the retail shops of the public area inside the Expo site.

Expo Site Catering 

Restaurants inside the Expo site offer fast food, classic Chinese and overseas cuisine, bread, vegetarian food, coffee and snacks, among others. The Catering Center on the west side of the Expo Boulevard is the Expo's largest catering area.

Operation Time 

The operation time of the Expo Site shall be 9:00 ~ 24:00. The opening hours of the pavilions shall be 9:30 ~ 22:30. 

Prohibited articles

In addition to explosive, flammable, radioactive and other hazardous items as well as articles prohibited by applicable laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, visitors are not allowed to carry into the Expo Site any of the following articles:

  • beverages in hard or soft packages, alcoholic drinks or any other liquids;
  • lighters, matches or other devices for ignition;
  • banners, posters, billboards, leaflets or any other promotional items;
  • motorcycles, light motor vehicles, bicycles, electric bicycles, skateboards, roller-blades, or similar tools for travel, with the exception of baby carriages, and wheelchairs;
  • animals, with the exception of guide dogs and other service animals;
  • delta wings, paragliders, hot air balloons, model airplanes, kites, or any other flying objects;
  • radio-controlled toys, walkie-talkies, or any other radio transmission equipments;
  • long umbrellas, or
  • any other items that may upset other visitors, or cause bodily injury or property damage to other visitors, or disturb the public order or security within the Expo Site.

Transport

For visitors' convenience to the Expo Site, Shanghai is constructing a comprehensive urban transport system and an Expo public transport network which enables visitors to reach the Expo Site via rail transit, bus and water transportation.
